Bronx, NY----Despite senior guard,
Noah Shy, scoring a game-high 22 points and junior guard,
Kayin Olajide adding 20, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team wasn't able to overcome a 16-point halftime deficit at Lehman, eventually falling to the Lightning, 80-64, on Saturday. BC drops to 2-18 overall and 1-9 in CUNYAC with the conference loss while Lehman improves to 16-2 and 9-1. The Bulldogs will have a day to regroup before hosting Medgar Evers on Monday at 7pm.
Trailing the home team 40-24 at halftime, the Bulldogs went on an 11-2 run to cut the Lightning's lead to 49-43 following a layup finished by junior guard,
Zuric Harvey, with 13:37 left in regulation. Brooklyn would continue to come within striking distance as late as the 5:19 mark after two Shy free-throws, only down 65-59. However, the Lightning wouldn't allow the Bulldogs to get any closer, using a 7-0 rally to keep the vistiors at bay for the rest of the game.
After shooting a shade under 30% from the field in the first half, the Bulldogs shot over 45% in the final 20 minutes of action. The Lightning led by as many as 19 points in the first half while shooting 46% from the field for the game.
Shy grabbed a team-high eight rebounds on the afternoon. Olajide knocked down a game-high four three-pointers.
Lehman was led by Mo Idrissou's 21-point, 10-rebound double-double. Isaiah Geathers added 21 point's in the Lightning victory.
