Big Second Half Lifts Bulldogs Past Cougars, 87-80

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Bulldogs got a 58-point second half on Monday night, en route to an 87-80 victory over visiting Medgar Evers.  The win improves BC to 2-9 in league play, tying them with Medgar Evers and CCNY for sixth place in the conference standings.

The Cougars jumped out to a 39-29 halftime advantage while shooting 58% from the field and knocking down 5-11 from beyond the arc.  Brooklyn kept the game within striking distance, with Elisha Park out for much of the period with foul trouble.

Coming out of the locker room, the Bulldogs were on fire, going on a 22-5 run, in just under seven minutes, to claim a seven point lead. The Brooklyn onslaught would continue, as a pair of Kayin Olajide free throws with 3:08 remaining would give BC their biggest lead of the game, 80-57.

Noah Shy did it all for Brooklyn, pouring in a game-high 30 points, while adding 9 rebounds and 7 assists.

Olajide had a nice all-around game as well, dropping in 18 points, while grabbing 8 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists.

Park, who was limited to 23 minutes, added 17 points.

Dimitri Weeks led Medgar with 17 points off the bench.

The Bulldogs will look to improve their seeding heading into the CUNYAC tournament with three games remaining, beginning with Hunter on Wednesday.  The game will also be Senior Night, starting at 7:15 pm.
