New Rochelle, NY----After a tough start to the day with a 9-1 loss in Game 1, the Brooklyn College softball team took Baruch College to extra innings in Game 2, but suffered a heartbreaking 10-9 walk-off loss in the eighth inning. Brooklyn moves to 2-14 (0-10 CUNYAC) with the pair of conference losses while the Bearcats improved to 15-9 and 9-1. The Bulldogs continue their conference slate at home next Wednesday against Lehman with the CUNYAC doubleheader beginning at 4:30 pm.

Trailing 9-7 in the top of the fifth, the Bulldogs scored a pair of runs to tie the game as freshman pitcher,
Danielle Guzzardi, reached on an error to score
Crystal Alvarado who walked and
Stella Witkowski who singled earlier in the inning. Guzzardi and the Bulldog defense kept the Bearcats scoreless for the next two innings. However, the home team would score the winning run in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI double after the Bulldogs were thrown out at home plate in the top of the inning.
After scoring the first run of the game in the top of the first, the Bulldogs would find themselves trailing the Bearcats 7-4 heading into the fourth inning. The Bulldogs would tie the game in the top of the fourth with a three-run rally capped by a 2-RBI double that scored
Chanel Jemmott and Guzzardi who hit an RBI single earlier in the inning that scored Witkowski who also singled.
Witkowski led the way offensively for Brooklyn going 3-5 with her first homer of the season, a three-run shot in the top of the second. She also scored three runs. Alvarado scored twice for Brooklyn. Along with earning the win in the circle, Carly Quint went 4-5 for Baruch offensively.

The Bearcats jumped on the Bulldogs in the day's opening inning, jumping out to a 9-0 lead through three. Brooklyn avoided the shutout with a run in the top of the fifth as Jemmott took advantage of a passed ball to take home after reaching on an error to leadoff the inning. Witkowski and
Zoey Van Vleet had the only two hits of the game from the Bulldogs as Quint pickedup her first win of the day in three innings of work.
