Bulldogs Take Both of Conference Doubleheader at York

Bellerose, NY----The Brooklyn College softball team grabbed a pair of conference wins over York College on the road on Wednesday.  BC cruised to an 18-0 (5 Innings) shutout in Game 1 before also rolling in the second game of the day,     .  Brooklyn improves to 6-18 overall and 4-14 in CUNYAC with the victories while the Cardinals drop to 0-16 and 0-12.  The Bulldogs close out the regular season at home on Senior Day on Friday against John Jay.  First pitch for the scheduled conference doubleheader is set for 4:30 pm at BC Field.  

Game 1 | Brooklyn -18, York - 0 (Five Innings)

BC didn't waste much time building their lead, jumping out to a 10-0 lead in the top of the first inning.  Freshman infielder, Zoey Van Vleet, opened up the scoring for the Bulldogs with a 2-RBI double that scored Danielle Guzzardi and Kayla Trembone

Guzzardi had a tremendous game both defensively and offensively, earning the win in the circle pitching all five shutout innings while yielding just three hits without a walk and striking out nine York batters.  She also went 3-4 at the plate with a triple, scored twice, and knocked in a game-high four runs.  

In her first game with the Bulldogs, Dasha Goodman went 4-5 for the game with a pair of RBI.  Freshman utility, Stella Witkowski, scored a game-high four runs, walked twice, slapped a double, and had three RBI.  

York first baseman, Nayelly Rojas, went 2-2 and stole a base for the Cardinals. 

Game 2 | Brooklyn - 14, York - 2 (Five Innings)

After grabbing a 6-1 lead through the first two innings, the Bulldogs rallied for six runs in the top third inning to take a commanding 12-1 advantage.  Highlighting the third inning was a 2-RBI double crushed by Goodman that scored Guzzardi and Trembone.  

Guzzardi pitched another solid five innings, charged with only one of the Cardinals' runs while striking out 11 batters en route to her sixth win of the season.   

Van Vleet remained hot offensively, going 3-4 with a double while driving in four runs.  Witkowski added four more runs to her day for the Bulldogs.  

York's Shamonie Miller scored both runs for the Cardinals while going 1-2 at the plate.
