Bulldogs Fall to John Jay on Senior Day in Regular Season Finale

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College softball team dropped a pair of conference games to John Jay on Friday, putting a damper on Senior Day in the Bulldogs' regular season finale.  BC fell in the first game of the CUNYAC doubleheader, 11-1 (5 Innings), before being outscored 10-1 (5 Innings) in the second game of the day.  Brooklyn closes out the regular season with an overall record of 6-20 and 4-16 in CUNYAC while John Jay impoves 13-19 overall and 10-6 in conference play.  The Bulldogs will await news of their CUNYAC Championship play-in game oppoenent for next Wednesday - stay tuned!

Game 1 | Brooklyn 1, John Jay 11 (5 Innings)

John Jay starting pitcher, America Rivera pitched all five innings for her sixth win of the year, allowing the one BC run, and yielding three hits.  The Bloodounds gave her immediate support, scoring six runs in he top of the first inning on four hits and an error.  Trailing 11-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Bulldogs avoided the shutout on a solo in-the-park homer crushed by freshman utility, Zoey Van Vleet.  The reigning conference Rookie of the Week went 2-3 for the Bulldogs.  John Jay's Rylea Sandel went 3-4 with a pair of doubles and drove in two RBI.

Game 2 | Brooklyn 1, John Jay 10 (5 Innings)

The Bloodhounds had another strong performance in circle with Julianne Graepel pitching all five no-hit innings.  The run support was once again there, early in the game, as John Jay jumped out to a 4-0 lead after an inning and a half.  BC cut the lead to 4-1 as Danielle Guzzardi reached on an error and thanks to stellar base-running and a throwing error, would eventually score.  However, the Bloodhounds responded with six runs in the next two innings for a commanding lead heading into the fifth inning.  Sandel went 2-2 for the game with a two-run homerun in the top of the third inning.
