Patchogue, NY---The Brooklyn College women's volleyball team managed a non-conference split at a trimatch hosted by St. Joseph's Long Island on Saturday. Brooklyn fell to the host, 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-21) before avenging Thursday's loss at Pratt, defeating the Cannoneers, 3-2 (26-24, 17-25, 19-25, 25-20, 15-11) in their second match of the day. BC moves to 4-4 overall with the split. Next Up: The Bulldogs head out to Rutgers-Newark for a non-conference tilt on Tuesday at 7pm.
The Rundown
- The home team used 7-0 rally to erase an early BC lead in the opening set, to take a 10-5 and not look back. BC took a 15-13 lead in the third set, looking to avoid the sweep, but the Golden Eagles answered later in the set with a pair of kills and a service ace to take a 23-20 lead and eventually close out the match on back-to-back unforced errors by the Bulldogs.
- BC bounced right back in opening set against Pratt, rallying for six straight scores to take a 23-20 lead before scoring three straight to win the set. On the brink of the losing the match, Brooklyn pulled out the fourth thanks in part to three Pratt errors while already leading 22-20. Trailing 10-8 in the deciding set, Brooklyn rallied for four straight scores capped by a kill put away by Aleah Rafat. Brooklyn won the match on three more straight scores ending with a Rafat kill.
