Brooklyn, NY----Playing in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the West Quad Center on thursday, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball team didn't disappoint, winning their third match in a row over Farmingdale State, 3-1 (25-18, 25-21, 17-25, 25-22). BC improves to 6-4 overall with the non-conference win while the Rams drop to 1-5. Next Up: The Bulldogs will travel to Stevens Tech on Saturday for a non-conference trimatch against Manhattanville at 2pm and the host at 4pm.
The Rundown
- Brooklyn put a steady pace on the Rams in the opening set, jumping out to a 10-5 lead and never looking back. Finding themselves trailing 6-3 early in the second set, the Bulldogs rallied for six straight scores to take the lead for good and then padded their advantage with six more straight scores for a commanding 15-7 lead. The Rams didn't go away and thanks to an eight-point rally towards the end of the set, was able to avoid the sweep. The teams battled back and forth to start the fourth set before Brooklyn went on a key four-point swing to take a 15-9 lead. However, the Rams made things interesting toward the end of the fourth set, cutting Brooklyn's lead to 23-22 before sophomore outside hitter, Aleah Rafat closed out the match with back-to-back kills.
- BC finished with 40 kills on the evening to the Rams' 33.
- Farmingdale had more success at the service line finishing with 12 aces to the Bulldogs' 8.
