Bulldogs Outlasted in Second Half, Fall to Baruch in CUNYAC Play

Brooklyn, NY----Despite playing a solid first half of basketball, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team wasn't able to sustain offensive consistency in the final twenty minutes of play, eventually falling to Baruch, 62-46, in CUNYAC action at the West Quad Center on Wednesday.  Brooklyn drops to 3-11 overall and 1-3 in CUNYAC with the loss while Baruch improves to 11-4 and 3-1 respectively.  Next Up: Brooklyn will look to bounce back at home on Friday in conference play against Hunter College at 7:15 pm.  

The Rundown
  • Tied, 23-23, at halftime, Brooklyn opened the second half with a a pair of buckets to grab a 27-23 advantage before the visitors responded with a 15-0 run capped with a little over 13 minutes to go in the game.  Brooklyn junior guard, Malik Dale, knocked down a three to cut Baruch's lead down to 38-33 with 11:24 remaining in regulation, but that is as close as the Bulldogs would get, as Baruch pushed their lead up to as many as 21 points in the second half.  
  • Brooklyn led by as many as 11 points in the first half following a made three splashed by senior guard, Kayin Olajide.  Baruch clawed their way back into the contest thanks in part to a 12-2 run.  
  • Baruch shot 53% from the field in the second half to Brooklyn's 23%.
Leading the Bulldogs
  • Sophomore guard, David McFadden, scored a team-high 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. 
  • Gabriel Barker and Olajide chipped in 8 points each.  Olajide added 8 rebounds to his line for the night.  
Leading the Bearcats
  • Devin Nicholson scored a game-high 18 points off of the bench while shooting 4-8 from behind the arc.  
  • Michael Gannon scored 14 points and grabbed 7 boards.
