Wilkes-Barre, PA---The Brooklyn College men's volleyball team picked up a non-conference split in a trimeet hosted by King's College on Saturday. First-year BC Head Coach, Joel Azumah, earned his first win in the Bulldogs' season opener over Pratt, 3-0 (25-19, 25-3, 25-15). Brooklyn fell to the host, 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-7), in the final match of the day to move to a 1-1 start on the season. Next Up: The Bulldogs travel to Purchase on Wednesday for a non-conference match at 7pm.
The Rundown
- With the scored tied, 6-6, in the opening set against Pratt, the Bulldogs took the lead for good beginning with a 4-0 rally started and capped by kills put away by Tommy Min. Min finished with a match-high 10 kills and came up with 6 digs.
- Brooklyn dominated the second set against Pratt, jumping out to a 7-0 lead and never looking back. Junior setter, Admir Cekic, served up all four of his service aces during the run. He also finished with a match-high 31 assists.
- Trailing Pratt 9-7 in the third set, Brooklyn rallied for six straight scores and grabbing the lead for the remainder of the match.
- Brooklyn finished with 7 blocks to Pratt's 1 for the match.
- King's opened the match against Brooklyn with a 6-0 and controlled the first set the rest of the way.
- Brooklyn battled to the very last point of the second set against King's, only trailing 21-20 before the Monarchs rallied for three straight for enough cushion to close out the set.
- Junior outside hitter, Armand Kaloshi, led Brooklyn offensively with 7 kills against King's. Min added four more kills to his day against the home team. Dion Csikortos came up with a match-high 8 digs against King's. The Monarchs' Ben Maskiell served up 10 aces and set for 21 assists.
