Bulldogs Pull Out Season Opener at Home Over Stockton, 45-40; Campbell Earns First Win at the Helm

Brooklyn, NY----The Brooklyn College women's basketball team pulled out a gritty 45-40 non-conference victory in their Season Opener over Stockton University on Saturday at the West Quad Center.  It was Head Coach Megan Campbell's first win at the helm of the program. Stockton moves to 1-1 with the loss.

  • Brooklyn will host Kean University on Wednesday in the first part of another non-conference basketball doubleheader  at the West Quad Center on Wednesday at 5pm.  
How It Happened
  • With the score tied, 40-40, with a little over a minute to play in regulation, BC junior guard, Suliat Afolabi, knocked down a clutch three from the corner as Brooklyn closed out the contest on 5-0 run.  
  • A tight defensive battle throughout, Brooklyn would find themselves trailing by as many as six points, 18-12, before sophomore guard, Dior Dorsey, knocked down a pair of free throws to cut the Ospreys' lead to 18-14 by halftime.  
  • Brooklyn held Stockton to 1-15 shooting from beyond the arc on the afternoon.  BC shot 6-18 from three as a team. 
  • BC finished with a slight 19-17 edge in points off of turnovers. 
For the Bulldogs
  • Junior guard, Alina Estrella, led the way with nine points while grabbing five boards and dishing out three assists.  
  • Freshman guard, Anna Kitch, shot 2-4 from behind the arc, finishing six points to go along with four rebounds.  
  • Junior forward, Mary Dolgin, provided a spark off of the bench with seven points and four rebounds.
