Salem, VA----Despite leading by as many as 12 points in the second half, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team wasn't able to hold off a late-game push, falling to Southern Virginia, 61-53, in the consolation game of the Frankie Allen Tip-off Tournament hosted by Roanoke College on Saturday. Brooklyn drops to 0-5 overall with the loss while the Trojans improved to 3-2.

How It Happened
- Never trailing since the 19:17 mark in the first half, Brooklyn grabbed a 46-34 advantage following a Malik Dale three with 11:40 left in regulation. The Trojans then made their move with a 14-2 run to tie the game, 48-48, with a little over seven minutes to play. BC responded with a 5-0 run to retake a two-possession lead sparked by a Luqman Ahmed jumper.
- Southern Virginia closed out the game with a 13-0 run for the victory.
- Brooklyn closed out the first half with four straight free-throw makes for a 35-25 halftime lead.
- The Bulldogs shot 23.5% including 9% in the second half after shooting over 41% in the first 20 minutes of action. Southern Virgina shot just under 45% from the field in the second half.
- Four of five Trojan starters scored in double-figures, led by Tyler Kartchner's game-high 19 points.
For the Bulldogs
- Dale scored a team-high 12 points while knocking down a pair from behind the arc.
- Junior guard, Serge Thraysbule, chipped in 10 points and grabbed six rebounds.
- Junior guard, Stephon McGill, and junior forward, Mekhi Barlow, grabbed eight rebounds each.
