James Nets Game-High 19 Points, Bulldogs Fall at No. 1 NYU

New York, NY----Despite a game-high 19 points scored by senior guard, Ericka James, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team wasn't able to upset No. 1 nationally ranked New York University, falling to the Violets, 91-46, on Tuesday night.  BC moves to 5-4 overall with the non-conference loss while NYU remains undefeated, improving to 9-0 on the season.

  • Brooklyn heads to Western New York just before the New Year to play in the Nazareth University Tournament.  The Bulldogs will take on SUNY Poly in their first game of the tourney on Friday, December 29, at 6pm.  
How It Happened
  • The home team opened up the contest with a 7-0 run before James scored BC's first basket of the game with 7:14 remaining in the first quarter.  BC sophomore guard, Anna Kitch, knocked down a three just before the end of the first quarter to cut NYU's lead to 24-8. NYU continued to roll in the second quarter and went on to lead by as many as 28 points in the first half.  
  • 15 players scored for NYU on the evening while shooting a shade under 50% from the field as a team for the night.  
  • NYU's Morgan Morrison scored a team-high 10 points in 16 minutes played.  
For the Bulldogs
  • Ericka James' game-high came on 8-16 shooting from the field including 3-5 from behind the arc.  She also grabbed eight rebounds.  
  • Senior forward, Sarah James, also grabbed eight rebounds and blocked a game-high five shots.  
  • Junior guard, Alina Estrella, chipped in 10 points and came up with three steals.
