Rochester, NY---Jumping out to an 8-0 lead in the first three minutes of play, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team finished what they started, defeating SUNY Polytechnic, 59-40, on the first day of the Sandy DeWolf McCormack Memorial Holiday Tournament on Friday at Nazareth University. BC improves to 6-4 overall with the non-conference win while the Wildcats drop to 1-10. In the first game of the tournament, Nazareth defeated Baruch, 82-51.

How It Happened
- Brooklyn opened the contest with back-to-back three-point makes drained by Ericka James and Anna Kitch respectively. SUNY Poly eventually responded with an 8-0 run of their own to tie the game. Poly grabbed their only lead of the game, 12-11, with 3:30 left in the first quarter before BC countered with a 6-0 run heading into the second period.
- The Bulldogs continued their run into the second quarter with seven unanswered points capped by a Destiny Drummond made jumper. SUNY Poly wouldn't pose much of a threat from that point on as the Bulldogs would go on to lead by as many as 20 points in the second half.
- BC held the Wildcats to 23.3% shooting from the field on the evening including 12% from beyond the arc.
- Brooklyn scored 26 points off of turnovers, forcing the Wildcats into 22 for the game.
- Poly's Alysa Jackson scored a team-high 14 points and grabbed six rebounds.
For the Bulldogs
- Junior guard, Alina Estrella, led the way with a game-high 15 points, grabbed seven rebounds, dished out five assists, and came up with six steals.
- Ericka James added 10 points and grabbed five boards.
- Kitch chipped in eight points to go along with a team-high 11 rebounds.
