St. David's, PA---Victorious their last two times out, the Brooklyn College men's volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference matches at a trimatch hosted by Eastern University on Saturday. BC fell to Cairn University, 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-12), in their first match of the day before closing out the afternoon with a 3-0 (25-10, 25-11, 25-15). Brooklyn moves to 4-5 overall following the trimatch. Next Up: Brooklyn will look to bounce back on Thursday as they open CUNYAC play at Medgar Evers at 6:30 pm.
The Rundown
- Brooklyn stayed even with Cairn in the early stages of the first two sets before the Highlanders pulled away with extended rallies halfway through each set. Cairn jumped out to a 4-0 lead to start the thurd set and never looked back. The Bulldogs hit -.258 as a team to the Cairn's .178 for the match.
- Despite getting better as the match wore on against Eastern, the home team set the tone from the opening serve, taking a 7-0 lead in the first set. Brooklyn kept it close early on in the third set, but the Eagles created some distance beginning with a four-score rally to take an 11-6 advantage before closing out the match with a four-point rally. The Eagles hit .310 as a team to the Bulldogs' -.074. EU also served up seven aces while not committing one reception error on a Brooklyn serve.
