Bulldogs Drop CUNYAC Opener at Medgar Evers

Brooklyn, NY----In a Battle of Bedford Avenue, the Brooklyn College men's volleyball team fell in their conference opener at Medgar Evers, 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-18), on Thursday.  The Bulldogs move to 4-6 overall with the loss while the Cougars earned the win in their Season Opener.  Next Up: BC will have a little over a week to prepare for Baruch as they continue conference play at the West Quad Center on Saturday, February 25, at noon.  

The Rundown 
  • Brooklyn jumped out to a 4-1 advantage to start the match before MEC scored six of the next seven points to take their first lead of the set.  The home team closed out the first set with a three-score rally.  Trailing 15-11 in the second set, the Bulldogs had a five-score rally highlighted by a kill put away by outside hitter, Armand Kaloshi, for a 16-15 advantage.  With the score tied, 23-23, the Cougars clinched the second set with back-to-back scores.  MEC jumped out to an 8-1 lead to open the third set that the Bulldogs wouldn't be able to recover from despite a four-point run including an ace served up by sophomore middle, Aziz Abdusamiev.  
  • The Cougars served up 12 aces while committing just one reception error on the evening.  
  • Brooklyn had a slight advantage in blocks, 4-3.  
Leading the Bulldogs
  • Abdusamiev led the way offensively with 7 kills and BC's lone service ace.  
  • Kaloshi added 5 kills. 
  • Tommy Min did a little bit of eveything for the Bulldogs on the evening, finishing with 2 blocks, 17 assists, and 8 digs.  
Leading Medgar Evers
  • Sebastiann Perez put away a match-high 14 kills, served up 5 aces, and came up with 10 digs.  
  • Austin Romeo set for 30 assists.
