Newark, NJ----The Brooklyn College softball team dropped a pair of non-conference games at Rutgers-Newark on Thursday. Brooklyn fell in Game 1, 17-1 in five innings, before ending the day with a 16-0 loss in five innings in Game 2. Next Up: Brooklyn returns home on Saturday for a non-conference doubleheader against Old Westbury beginning at 12pm at Brooklyn College Field.
How it Happened (Game 1)
- Brooklyn got on the board first in the top of the first inning on throwing error that scored sophomore infielder, Zoey Van Vleet. Senior outfielder, Isabelle Frank cracked a two-out double but was left stranded.
- The home team responded with two runs in the bottom of the first inning before blowing the game wide open in the third inning, scoring 12 runs on eight hits and two errors.
For the Bulldogs (Game 1)
- Frank, Van Vleet, and designated hitter, Yoanna Cohetero had Brooklyn's three hits on the game.
How It Happened (Game 2)
- The home team scored 5 runs in the first inning before tacking on 10 runs in the third inning to run away with the game.
- Rutgers-Newark finished with 15 hits including four doubles, a triple, and a dinger.
For the Bulldogs (Game 2)
- Frank had her second double of the day for one of Brooklyn's two hits.
- Junior infielder, Yesileidy Paulino, had Brooklyn's other hit.
