Brooklyn Softball Picks Up First Conference Wins of the Season Over York at Home

Brooklyn College Field---The Brooklyn College softball team picked up their first two conference wins of the season at home over York College on Friday.  BC took Game 1 16-0 (five innings) and closed out the afternoon with a 17-0 shutout.  The Bulldogs improve to 7-12 overall and 2-2 in CUNYAC with the wins while the Cardinals drop to 1-14 and 0-4 respectively.  Next Up: The Bulldogs travel to Lehman on Tuesday for a key conference doubleheader beginning at 4:00 pm.  

How It Happened (Game 1)
  • Brooklyn grabbed a 9-0 lead in the first inning highlighted by a 2-RBI triple crushed by senior infielder, Dasha Goodman.  
  • In the second inning, freshman shortstop, Melanie Millan, hit a 2-RBI single to give Brooklyn a 12-0 lead.  
  • Yesileidy Paulino hit the Bulldogs' second triple of the game, driving home Goodman and Grismarly Brito Mejia.  
  • Freshman outfielder, Sandra Diaz, hit her first career homerun in the fourth inning.  
For the Bulldogs (Game 1)
  • Starting pitcher, Danielle Guzzardi, hurled a no-hitter through all five innings, striking out eight York batters
  • Millan was 1-2 with three RBI and walked three times, and scored twice
  • Goodman was 1-2 with two RBI, scored twice, and walked twice.  
How It Happened (Game 2)
  • Brooklyn jumped out to another 9-0 lead in the first inning highlighted by a 3-RBI triple hit by Milan.  Senior infielder, Isabelle Frank, would score Millan with an RBI single.  
  • BC scored four more times in the second inning beginning with a 2-RBI single ripped by Diaz.  
  • Sophomore outfielder, Jendry Maria, hit a 2-RBI double in the bottom of the third inning for the game's final score.  
For the Bulldogs (Game 2)
  • Guzzardi pitched her second shutout of the day, yielding just two hits while striking out eight batters. 
  • Maria went 2-2 with three RBI and scored twice.  
  • Diaz was 1-1 with three RBI, scored twice, and walked.
