Brooklyn College Field (Brooklyn, NY)----The Brooklyn College softball tem extended their win-streak to eight as the Bulldogs took both games of a non-conference twin bill against Sarah Lawrence College on Friday. Brooklyn blanked the Gryphons, 7-0, in Game 1 before also shutting out the visitors in Game 2, 11-0. BC improves to 11-12 overall with the wins while SLC drops to 2-10. Next Up: Brooklyn hosts Baruch in a CUNYAC doubleheader on Thursday, April 27, on Senior Day at 4pm.
How It Happened (Game 1)
- Brooklyn scored a pair of runs in the second inning highlighted by an RBI single laced by Yesileidy Paulino, scoring Dasha Goodman. BC tacked on another run in the third inning on an RBI single hit by Isabelle Frank to score Zoey Van Vleet who started off the inning with a base hit.
- The Bulldogs took a 5-0 lead in the fifth inning thanks to solid baserunning.
- Frank would hit an inside the park homer in the sixth inning before Paulino cracked her second RBI single of the game for the final score.
For the Bulldogs (Game 1)
- BC starting pitcher, Danielle Guzzardi, contiuned her dominance in the circle, pitching all seven inning, yielding just a pair of SLC hits while striking out 10 batters.
- Goodman went 3-4.
- Frank was 2-4 with a homer.
- Kaitlyn Belfield score two runs.
How It Happened (Game 2)
- Brooklyn jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning highlighted by a Goodman RBI single.
- The Bulldogs added three more runs in the third inning beginning with an inside the park homerun hit by Melanie Millan for her first of the season.
- Guzzardi would get herself out of a jam in the top of the fourth inning with the bases loaded and one out, forcing a fly out to left field for the second out and then had a strikeout for the third out.
- Brooklyn blew the game wide open in the fourth inning, scoring six runs on three hits and three errors.
For the Bulldogs (Game 2)
- Guzzardi pitched all five innings without yielding a hit and striking out eight.
- Goodman was 2-3 with 2 RBI, and scored a pair of runs.
- Outfielder, Nadeen Khalil, also went 2-3 and scored a run.
- Frank scored a team-high three runs for the game.
