Brooklyn, NY----The Brooklyn College softball team's eight-game win-streak ended on Thursday as the Bulldogs dropped both games of CUNYAC doubleheader to Baruch on Senior Day at Brooklyn College Field. Baruch struck early to take Game 1, 6-1, before closing out the evening with an 8-0 (6 Innings) in the night cap. Brooklyn moves to 11-14 overall and 4-4 in CUNYAC with the loss while the Bearcats improve to 13-11 and 7-1 respectively. Next Up: Brooklyn closes out the regular season against Hunter on the road on May 4 on Randall's Island for a conference twin bill beginning at 3pm.
How It Happened (Game 1)
- Baruch did the majority of the damage in the first inning, scoring four runs on four hits and an error.
- The Bulldogs settled in defensively from that point on, but Baruch starting pitcher, Carly Quint, and the support behind her were also solid.
- Trailing 6-0, the Bulldogs' offense picked up in the bottom of the sixth inning beginning with a leadoff single hit by Aleah Rafat. She eventually scored on an RBI groundout hit by Melanie Millan.
For the Bulldogs (Game 1)
- Starting pitcher, Danielle Guzzardi, pitched all seven innings, wasa charged with three runs, and struck out seven batters.
- Zoey Van Vleet was 2-2 and walked.
- Millan had Brooklyn's fourth hit of the game.
How It Happened (Game 2)
- Just a 2-0 game through five innings, the Bearcats scored six unanswered runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on five hits.
- Baruch starting pitcher, Caroline Gallagher, threw all six innings of shutout softball, striking four batters while only walking one.
- Both teams made standout plays in the field, neither charged with an error.
For the Bulldogs (Game 2)
- Millan went 2-3.
- Senior, Isabelle Frank, cracked a single.
- Guzzardi and Rafat also belted singles.
