Brooklyn College Field---The Brooklyn College softball team dropped both games of their conference opening doubleheader against John Jay on Friday. The visitors took Game 1, 15-0, in five innings before scoring another shutout, 12-0, in five innings in Game 2. BC moves to 3-12 overall and 0-2 in CUNYAC while the Bloodhounds improve to 15-10 and 2-0 respectively. Next Up: The Bulldogs take on York in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 12, beginning at 1pn at the Padavan-Preller Fields in Queens, NY.
How It Happened
- John Jay got off to a hot start, scoring five runs in the top of the first inning Game 1 on five hits. After a scoreless second inning, the Bloddhounds unloaded for 10 runs in the top of the third on 10 hits.
- In Game 2, the visitors scored seven runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a commanding 9-0 lead.
- John Jay pitcher, Jailene Santiago, pitched all 10 innings of shutout softball including a no-hitter in Game 2.
For the Bulldogs
- Junior infielder, Yesileidy Paulino, and freshman catcher, Kaitlyn Belfield, both had a base hit in Game 1. Senior infielder, Dasha Goodman walked in Game 2 to spoil Santiago's perfect game.
