Kings Point, NY----The Brooklyn College women's volleyball team dropped their season opener on Wednesday, falling at USMMA, 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-16). USMMA picked up their first win of the season, moving to 1-2 with the non-conference victory.

How It Happened
- Trailing 16-10 in the first set, the Bulldogs went on a six-score flurry highlighted by a pair of aces served up by BC sophomore, Ruti Joshi. Brooklyn would keep it close, 23-21, late in the set before the Mariners closed it out on back-to-back kills.
- Brooklyn kept it close in the early goings of the second set before the home team scored six unanswered points to take a commanding 20-10 advantage.
- The Bulldogs kept it close again to start the third set. However, USMMA was able to string together an eight-score rally and eventually end the match.
- USMMA put away 28 kills to the Bulldogs' 13 for the match. Meredith led the way with 10 kills and four service aces.
For the Bulldogs
- Junior outside hitter, Sydney Gdanski, led the way offensively with six kills and three service aces.
- Senior outside hitter, Ashley Fung, added three kills and came up with a match-high 10 digs defensively.
