BC Steals Another Against Medgar Evers, Extends Streak to Three

BROOKLYN, New York -----Making key plays down the stretch once again, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team pulled out a 68-62 CUNYAC win at home over borough foe, Medgar Evers, on Wednesday. The Bulldogs extend their win streak to three, moving up to 4-13 overall with a 4-2 conference record, while the Cougars drop to 2-15 overall and have yet to win a conference game.

The Bulldogs look to continue their winning ways, as they go on the road to face the City College of New York on Friday, January 19 at 7:15pm. 

How It Happened: 

  • The Bulldogs would start off on a 5-0 run in the first minute of action, before the Cougars would go on a 15-1 run of their own with 11:00 to go in the first half. 

  • Brooklyn would tie the game three times in the first half, but they would fail to take the lead in any of those circumstances, allowing Medgar Evers to lead 35-32 at the half. 

  • Inching closer, the Cougars would attempt to pull away with a seven-point lead with under eleven minutes left in the game, before the Bulldogs would go on a 9-0 run tying it at 49 with 8:13 left. 

  • Brooklyn would take their first lead of the game with 7:44 left at 51-49 in what indicated a close game for the rest of the way. 

  • With a four-point deficit, Brooklyn's Aaron Davis would hit a three-point shot that would inch them close once again, but the biggest impact came when Serge Thraysbule would grab an offensive rebound for Brooklyn to get an and-one to go up 60-58 with 2:55 to go in the game. 

  • Building off the momentum, Malik Dale hit a jumpshot off of a steal from Thraysbule with 1:14 left to go up 63-59, before the Bulldogs iced the game at the free throw line.

For the Bulldogs: 

  • Malik Dale would lead the way with 23 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal, hitting 3 out of 4 three-point shots. 

  • Stephon McGill would finish with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. 

  • Zuric Harvey would produce 11 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist off the bench.  

  • Serge Thraysbule and Gabriel Barker led in rebounding with 6 rebounds each, with Thraysbule also leading in assists with 5.
