Bulldogs Unable to Complete Comeback at Hunter

New York, NY----Despite coming back from a 12-point deficit in the second half to take the lead late in the game, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team dropped a 55-49 conference game at Hunter College on Tuesday.  BC moves to 12-7 overall and 7-2 in CUNYAC while the Hawks improve to 9-11 and 5-4 respectively.  Tuesday's loss snaps a six-game win-streak for the Bulldogs.

  • The Bulldogs will look to bounce back on Saturday in a another important conference matchup at John Jay at 1pm. 
How It Happened
  • Trailing the Hawks 47-40 with 6:09 left in regulation, the Bulldogs went on a 9-0 run capped by a made three drained by junior guard, Alina Estrella, to take their first lead since the second quarter with 2:09 to go.  However, the home team answered the call with an 8-0 run to close out the game. 
  • Leading 8-6 halfway through the opening quarter, the Bulldogs went on a 7-0 run sparked by an Ericka James three-point make to take their largest lead of the game (9) by the 1:40 mark.
  •  The Hawks outscored the Bulldogs 19-3 in the second quarter to take a 28-18 halftime lead. 
  • Brooklyn shot 21.7% from the field on the evening to the Hawks' 32.1%. 
  • Hunter's Alexa Charles led the way with 23 points and 15 rebounds. 
For the Bulldogs
  • Estrella scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed four rebounds. 
  • Ericka James chipped in nine points and grabbed four boards. 
  • Sarah James added seven points while grabbing a game-high 21 rebounds.
