Bulldogs Pull Out 1-1 Draw with CCNY

Brooklyn, NY----Taking on the defending CUNYAC champs, CCNY, the Brooklyn College women's soccer team was able to pull out a 1-1 draw at home on Wednesday in an important conference match.  Brooklyn moves to 3-7-3 overall and 0-1-1 in CUNYAC with the draw while the Beavers go to 1-7-2 and 0-1-1 respectively.  Next Up: The Bulldogs continue their conference slate against Medgar Evers on Saturday at York at 12:00pm.  

How It Happened
  • Brooklyn stunned the defending conference champs in 11' with junior midfielder, Sage Bernstein, finding freshman midfielder, Chelsea Gonzalez, on a header who blasted a high arching shot over the keeper for the first goal of the match.  
  • The Bulldogs would keep the lead until 33' when CCNY scored the equalizer off of a kick ahead from the backfield for the goal.  
  • Both teams battled back and forth in the second half to close out the stalemate.  
  • The Beavers out-shot Brooklyn 14-6 for the match.  However, three of the Bulldogs' shots were on-frame.  
For the Bulldogs
  • Gonzalez took one shot for the match for her goal.  
  • Audrey Jane Young and Abigail Joseph both had shots that were saved.  
  • April Hartje finished with 5 saves in all 90 minutes of action including a clutch save in 86'.
