BC Women's Volleyball Back On Track Against Old Westbury

Bulldogs Sweep Their Way Back Into Win Column

OLD WESTBURY, New York ------ Coming into Monday night's non-conference match, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball team looked to get back on the winning side against the College at Old Westbury Panthers, after their five-game winning streak was snapped in the previous game. They would do just that, as the Bulldogs would sweep the match in three sets [25-11, 25-12, 25-22] on the road. The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (11-9) improve their winning percentage, getting above .500 by two games, while the Old Westbury Panthers (4-11) continue to compete.

How It Happened

Brooklyn would take an early lead in the first set, before going on a  6-0 run that would allow them to create some distance and take the first set 25-11..

With the score close at 14-11 in the second set, the Bulldogs would take complete control to finish the set with two separate runs of 5-0 and 6-0, outscoring the Panthers 11-1 in the process to take it 25-12.

The third set was arguably the most competitive of the bunch, featuring an astounding 13 ties between the two teams, as Old Westbury tried to stay alive and Brooklyn tried to finish it off. With the score tied at 22-22, a kill from Brooklyn would propel them into a 3-0 run to take the set and the game 25-22.

For the Bulldogs

  • Aleah Rafat would lead the attack with 13 kills, 1 assist, and 7 digs.
  • Amra Mulic would have double digits in two categories, leading in assists with 16 as well as tied for digs with 10, tagging on 2 aces in the process.
  • Ruti Joshi would tie on the defensive end with 10 digs, while adding 1 ace, and 3 assists.
  • Dinora Gomez would have a solid all-around game with 5 kills,1 block and 3 digs.
