BC Women's Soccer Take Home Victory On Senior Day

Bulldogs Get Second Conference Victory

BROOKLYN, New York ------ Coming into Saturday afternoon's conference matchup, the Brooklyn College women's soccer team looked to gain an important victory on Senior Day for seeding in the Playoffs. They would accomplish just that, as they would take a 4-0 victory over the York College Cardinals, without allowing a single shot against them.

The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (5-8-3, 2-2-1 CUNYAC) gain their second conference victory of the season, while the York College Cardinals (2-11-0, 1-4-0 CUNYAC) miss an opportunity to give themselves a chance at a higher position in the standings.

How It Happened

After multiple shots in the first half of the first forty-five minutes, the Bulldogs would finally break through on a corner shot taken by Sage Bernstein to a direct pass to Abigail Joseph for a header into the top right corner from inside the box for the 1-0 score in 20'.

Brooklyn would continue to put the pressure on the attack as Gianna DiPronio would regain possession off her blocked shot to find Chelsea Gonzalez on the left side, who would deliver another quick pass for a goal from Jaymi Quintuna for the 2-0 score in 23'.

DiPronio would close off the first half with a quick strike from a few feet out off a through pass from Bernstein at 41' to make it 3-0. This would be Bernstein's second assist off the bench.

The scoring barrage would end around the start of the second half, as Julissa Chino would find Gonzalez with a quick pass inside the box for the 4-0 game at 46'.

For the Bulldogs

  • Chelsea Gonzalez would end the game with 1 goal and 1 assist on 3 shots, 2 on target.
  • Gianna DiPronio would have 1 goal, 1 assist on 3 shots with 1 on goal.
  • Jaymi Quintuna would have 1 goal off 5 shots with 2 of those on target.
  • Julissa Chino would take 6 shots in this game, including 2 that would hit the top of the woodwork in 39' and 65', before getting on the stat sheet with 1 assist.
Next up, the Brooklyn College women's soccer team looked to finish off the regular season on a positive note on Tuesday, October 29 against the Medgar Evers College Cougars at 4:00pm.
