Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Bulldogs Battle But Falter at Hunter

New York, NY----Despite getting better as the match progressed, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball fell in three sets to Hunter College on Thursday in conference action.  The Bulldogs move to 12-12 overall and 4-2 in CUNYAC with the loss while the Hawks improved to 20-7 and a perfect 7-0 respectively. Next Up: Brooklyn remains on the road for a scheduled non-conference trimatch at Montclair St. on Saturday.

How It Happened
  • Hunter jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the first set, keeping a comfortable advantage before closing it out 25-15.
  • Brooklyn improved in the second set, grabbing hold of a 17-15 lead following a four-point flurry ending with back-to-back aces served up by Emma Steele.  However, the Hawks responded with a seven-score rally of their own to retake the lead, 22-17.  The run gave the home team enough cushion to close out the second set, 25-20.
  • Trailing 6-1 to start the third set, the Bulldogs battled back to eventually hold a 9-8 advantage following four unanswered scores including kills put away by Aleah Rafat and Danielle Fuxman, block assists put back by Olivia Fan and Amy Kaza, and an ace served up by Amra Mulic.  The teams would find themselves deadlocked, 19-19, before the Hawks managed to score three of the last four points of the match to seal it, 25-22.
  • The Hawks were more efficient offensively on the evening hitting .275 to the Bulldogs' .095.
