Bulldogs Sweep Through Home Trimatch

BROOKLYN, NY----Looking to get back to playing .500 ball, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball team took two steps forward in the right direction on Saturday by sweeping Medgar Evers, 3-0 (25-10, 25-9, 25-4) before closing out a home tri-match with a 3-0 (25-7, 25-15, 25-9) sweep of Lehman in the final contest of the day at the West Quad Center. BC improves to 7-8 overall with the wins.  In the neutral match of the day, Lehman defeated Medgar Evers, 3-0. 

Next Up: Brooklyn looks to keep their momentum going in conference play on Tuesday, 10/8, at CCNY at 7pm.  

How It Happened vs Medgar Evers

The Bulldogs would take an early lead, going on a 7-0 run that included 3 kills from Aleah Rafat to make it 9-1, never looking back and winning the set 25-10.

Brooklyn would once again take the lead and never surrender it, in a second set that included 6 different players getting a service ace to win it 25-9.

With the Bulldogs holding a 9-4 lead, they would go on the longest run of the game to end it all, going on an impressive 16-0 run, half of which were service aces, to take the third set 25-4.

For the Bulldogs (vs Medgar Evers)

  • Aleah Rafat would lead all Bulldogs with 9 kills to go along with  5 digs, 3 aces, 1 block, and 1 assist.
  • Danielle Fuxman finished with 7 kills and 1 block.
  • Ruti Joshi would have 10 digs, 5 aces, and 4 assists

How It Happened vs Lehman 

The Bulldogs would start the game in impressive fashion, going on a series of 5-0, 6-0, and the longest 8-0 run that would put them up 19-2, eventually winning it 25-7.

Lehman would try and make it a lot more competitive in the second set, leading to both sides tying it 6 times.

With the score tied at 10-10, Brooklyn would create some distance, going on a 5-0 run thanks to a sequence of attack errors, creating enough space to keep the lead and win it 25-15.

For the Bulldogs (vs Lehman)

  • Ruti Joshi would attain a leading 15 digs with 1 reception, 4 aces, and 1 kill.
  • Rhianna Marrero would attain 9 assists, 1 aces, and 7 digs.
  • Amra Mulic would lead them in the passing game, giving 19 assists as well as 2 aces and 6 digs.
