Bulldogs Roll to First Win of Season in Home Opener Over St. Joseph's Brooklyn

Brooklyn, NY---With five Bulldogs reaching double-figures in scoring on the evening, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team cruised to an 86-52 non-conference win over St. Joseph's Brooklyn in their Home Opener on Wednesday.  BC moves to 1-1 to start the season while the Bears drop to 1-1.  Next Up: Brooklyn travels to Hoboken for another non-conference tilt at Stevens on Saturday, 11/16, with a 5pm tip-off.  

How It Happened
  • Brooklyn came out on fire to start the game, jumping out to an 11-0 lead in the first three and a half minutes of play.  The run included a pair of made threes knocked down by Mary Dolgin.  
  • The visitors clawed their way back into the contest in the second period thanks in part to a 7-0 run capped with 3:03 left in the first half.  BC would lead, 37-34, at the half.
  • BC opened the second half on a 12-0 run sparked by an Anna Kitch lay-up.  The Bulldogs were in cruise control from that point on leading by as many as 37 points in the fourth period.  
For the Bulldogs
  • Dior Dorsey led the way with a game-high 19 points.  She also grabbed 9 rebounds and dished out 5 assists.  
  • Brianna Gutierrez provided the spark off of the bench, finishing with 16 points and pulling down 8 boards. 
  • Dolgin finished with 14 points to go along with 9 rebounds.  
  • Kitch chipped in 13 points and grabbed 9 boards.  
  • Freshman guard, Ameea Daniel, scored 10 points off of the bench.
