BC Men's Basketball Drop Home Opener to Kean

Bulldogs Start Strong But Can't Take Down Cougars

BROOKLYN, New York ----- Coming into the home opener, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team would open up against the Kean University Cougars in non-conference play, as both teams were in search of their first victory. Despite being the first ones to score, the Bulldogs were unable to sustain that lead, falling to the Cougars by a score of 84-62.

The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (0-2) continue to search for their first win of the season, while the Kean University Cougars (1-2) get their first victory of the young season in convincing fashion.

How It Happened

Kean would try and strike first with an attempted driving layup that would be swatted away by Brooklyn's Jaden Casanova, getting the ball back for the home team before Stephon McGill would put Brooklyn up first 46 seconds into the game.

With the Bulldogs clinging to a lead up 13-11 with 13:14 to go in the first half, the Cougars would go on an extensive 13-2 run to give them a convincing lead that they would take into halftime 41-30.

Despite Brooklyn striking first once again with a Casanova layup, Kean would outscore Brooklyn 25-6 to go up 66-38 with 11:44 to go in the game, a deficit Brooklyn would not overcome and lose 86-64.
