Brooklyn Rolls to First Home of the Season Over USMMA, 66-50

Brooklyn, NY----Led by Malik Dale's team-high 22 points, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team rolled to a 66-50 non-conference victory over the US Merchant Marine Academy on Tuesday at the West Quad Center. BC improves to 2-5 with the win while the Mariners drop to 3-2.  Next Up: Brooklyn will look to keep their momentum going as they take to the road at Old Westbury on December 4 at 6pm.  

How It Happened
  • Already leading 45-34 with 13:40 to go in the second half, the Bulldogs blew the game wide open with an 10-0 run sparked by a Dale three-point make.  The Mariners cut the lead to 12 with 5:15 left in the contest before BC responded with five unanswered points highlighted by a Gabe Barker thunderous dunk.  David McFadden put the game completely out of reach for USMMA with a three-point make with 1:44 left in regulation.  
  • Trailing 4-0 to start the game, the Bulldogs came alive beginning with a 9-0 run to take the lead for good at the 17:08 mark in the first half.  The went on to lead by as many as 15 points in the first half before hanging to a 36-25 halftime advantage.  
  • Brooklyn knocked down 12 threes on the evening to the Mariners' 4.  The Bulldogs also doubled-up the Mariners in points off of turnovers, 16-8.  
  • USMMA's Drew Zalescik scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.  
For the Bulldogs
  • Dale shot 6-14 from behind the arc on the evening and dished out a pair of assists.  
  • McFadden chipped in 11 points while knocking down three three-pointers.  He also blocked two shots and grabbed 4 rebounds.  
  • Barker finished with 9 points and came up with a game-high 3 steals off of the bench.
