OLD WESTBURY, NY ------ Looking for their second straight non-conference victory, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team prevailed at Old Westbury, 79-68, on Wednesday. BC improves to 3-5 overall with the win while the Panthers drop to 3-2. Up Next: the Brooklyn returns home to take on their first conference opponent of the season in the John Jay College Bloodhounds on Friday, December 6th at 7:15pm.
How It Happened
- A chess match through the majority of the first half, the home team grabbed a 34-27 lead with 4:43 before halftime. However, the Bulldogs used a 7-0 run to tie the contest following a Malik Dale bucket with 1:29 to go in the half. Brooklyn took their first lead of the contest, 38-36, since the 16:39 mark following a make in the paint finished by Stephon McGill with just under a minute to play in the half. The Panthers closed out the first half on a 5-0 run to take a 41-38 halftime lead.
- Trailing by as many as eight points within the first two minutes of the second half, the Bulldogs pulled within a point, 48-47, thanks to a 7-0 run capped with a Dale fastbreak dunk.
- With the Panthers clinging to a 66-63 lead with 7:04, the Bulldogs made their move and took the lead for good beginning with an 11-0 run sparked by a three-point make buried by David McFadden. BC eventually closed out the contest with the largest advantage either team had all night.
- BC outscored the Panthers, 18-10, in second chance points. The Bulldogs also shot 12-16 (75%) to OW's 3-5 (60%) for the evening.

- Stephon McGill would attain a double-double, tied as the leading scorer with 17 points to go with a Bulldogs leading 12 rebounds, including 4 offensive rebounds, to go with 5 assists and 1 steal, while shooting 6-for-14 overall and 4-for-5 from the free-throw line.
- Malik Dale dropped 17 points on 7-for-16 shooting to go along with 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
- Serge Thraysbule would also reach double-figures in scoring with 11 points. He also added 6 rebounds and 2 steals to his stat line.
- Mekhi Barlow would hold it down defensively with 2 blocks while also grabbing 10 boards.
