Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Bulldogs Fall on the Road to Stockton in Season Opener

Galloway, NJ---Despite scoring the first basket of the contest, BC Women's Basketball dropped their Season Opener on the road at Stockton University, 56-42, on Saturday.  Stockton was victorious in their first game of the season, avenging last year's loss to the Bulldogs.  Next Up: Brooklyn will look to bounce back on Wednesday, 11/13, as the Bulldogs host borough foe, St. Joseph's Brooklyn, at the West Quad Center at 5pm.

How It Happened
  • Following an Alina Estrella steal on the Ospreys' first offensive possession of the contest, Dior Dorsey scored the game's first bucket of the game to give Brooklyn a 2-0 lead in the opening 30 seconds.  However, the home team responded with a 4-0 run that would give them the lead they wouldn't relinquish from the 6:05 mark in the first period until the final buzzer.
  • Trailing by 15 points with 6:24 to go in the first half, the Bulldogs would go on a 10-0 run sparked by a made three knocked down by freshman forward, Danae McMullen.  Stockton answered with a 5-0 flurry of their own to grab a 28-18 halftime advantage.
  • McMullen helped cut the Stockton lead to singles digits, 28-20, on a tip-in in the first minute of the second half, but the Bulldogs' momentum didn't last long as the Ospreys came back with a 7-0 run.  Stockton would go on to lead by as many as 19 points in the second half before Brooklyn's late run in the fourth period that cut their lead to as few as nine points with 1:23 remaining in regulation.
  • Stockton finished with a 27% to 25% edge shooting edge from the field and 67% to 30% advantage from the free-throw line for the game. Brooklyn outscored the Ospeys, 19-9, in points off of turnovers.
For the Bulldogs
  • Estrella led the way with a team-high 11 points to go along with 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals.
  • McMullen added 8 points while grabbing a game-high 11 boards in her collegiate debut.
