Brooklyn, NY---Snapping a three-game win-streak in the process, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team dropped their first home game of the season to No. 1, New York University, 104-40, at the West Quad Gymnasium on Wednesday. BC moves to 4-4 overall with the non-conference loss while the Violets improve to 8-0. Next Up: The Bulldogs are back at home on Friday, 12/13, at 6pm against SUNY Poly.
How It Happened
- The defending National Champs showed why they are the No. 1 team in the country as they jumped out to a 12-0 lead i the first two minutes of play. BC senior forward, Mary Dolgin, put the Bulldogs on the board with a three-point make at the 7:26 mark. However, the Violets continued to roll, grabbing a 34-5 advantage by the end of the first quarter.
- BC showed some resilience to start the second half as Anna Kitch opened the third quarter with a 5-0 run on her own to cut NYU's lead to 59-23 with 9:23 remaining. However, NYU responded with a 6-0 run to silence a Brooklyn comeback.
- NYU shot 63.2% from the field including 52.4% from behind the arc as a team for the game.
For the Bulldogs
- Kitch and senior guard, Alina Estrella, scored 11 points each to lead the BC scoring attack. Estrella also came up with three steals.
- Freshman guard, Ameea Daniel, chipped in 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds off of the bench.
- Freshman forward, Danae McMullen, also provided some support off of the bench finishing with 5 points in 13 minutes.
