BC Men's Basketball Break Win Streak Against John Jay

Bulldogs Lose First Conference Matchup of Season

BROOKLYN, New York ------ Coming into Friday night's game, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team would play their first conference game of the season against the John Jay College Bloodhounds. The Bulldogs had been coming off winning two games in a row, but unfortunately their streak would be snapped as they would drop the game by a score of 84-68.

The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (3-6, 0-1 CUNYAC) lose in their first conference game if the season, while the John Jay College Bloodhounds (7-3, 1-0 CUNYAC) continue a solid start to the season.

How It Happened

Brooklyn would strike first, taking an early 2-0 lead in the first possession of the game. The two sides would go and trade leads, going on to have five lead changes in the half and tying it twice, including the last time the game would be tied at 12-12 off a free throw from Serge Thraysbule with 12:06 to go in the half.

John Jay would hit a go ahead three pointer to take the lead for good, and would proceed to do so right before the buzzer to go up 43-35 at the half.

The Bulldogs would cut the lead to 6 with back-to back layups from Thraysbule and David McFadden to make it 45-39 with 17:26 to go. 

Both sides would trade baskets with one another, but the Bloodhounds would create some distance after McFadden would hit a three-pointer to cut it to 12 with 4:55 to go, proceeding with an 11-2 run to go up 82-61 with 3:08 to go in the game.

The Bulldogs would go on one last rally, a 7-0 run, but it was too late, as the Bloodhounds would get one last layup before the game ended to finish it with a score of 84-68.

For the Bulldogs

  • David McFadden led the way with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal.
  • Serge Thraysbule was right behind him with 12 points. 3 rebounds and 2 assists.
  • Stephon McGill was the nearest to a double-double with 9 points,and a Bulldogs leading 10 rebounds to go with 2 assists and 1 steal.
  • Joe Charles contributed 11 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists off the bench.
