Bulldogs Cruise to Key Conference Victory at John Jay

New York, NY----Led by junior guard Malik Dale's game-high 30 points, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team rolled to a 77-54 conference victory at John Jay on Saturday.  Sweeping the regular season series with the Bloodhounds, Brooklyn improves to 5-17 overall and 5-6 in CUNYAC with the win while John Jay drops to 6-16 and 2-9 respectively.

  • Brooklyn returns home on Wednesday, February 7, for another conference tilt against York College at 7:15 pm at the West Quad Gymnasium. 
 
How It Happened
  • With the score tied, 6-6, the Bulldogs took complete control of the contest beginning with a 16-0 run during a five-minute stretch before John Jay finally cut the BC lead to 22-8 with 10:07 to go in the first half. Brooklyn wouldn't relent as they would lead by as many as 21 points in the first half following a mad jumper drained by junior guard, Serge Thraysbule.  John Jay closed out the first half on a 7-0 run.
  • After the home team scored the first bucket of the second half, the Bulldogs responded with an 11-0 including three, three-point makes, a pair knocked down by Dale and one buried by David McFadden.  BC grabbed their largest lead of the contest (25) in the final minute of play. 
  • Brooklyn shot 50% (6-12) from behind the arc in the second half while keeping John Jay to 0-11 shooting from three for the game. 
For the Bulldogs
  •  Dale shot 6-13 from three-point range for the game and dished out four assists. 
  • Freshman forward, Altin Kujak, scored a season-high 13 points while grabbing a season-high seven rebounds.
  • AJ Ahmed contributed a season-high 11 points in 28 minutes off of the bench, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out 4 assists.
