How It Happened:

  • The Bulldogs jumped to a quick 5-0 run to start the game, but the Cardinals would eventually close the gap and take a lead that they would hold for most of the first half at 10-9 with 13:37 to go in the half.
  • York would retain the lead for most of the first half, going up by as many as nine points with 5:22 remaining in the first half.
  • Brooklyn would end the first half on a 14-2 run, where York went scoreless for the last three minutes, allowing Brooklyn to take a 39-36 lead at halftime.
  • This time, it was the Cardinals that would start off the second half on a 5-0 run, before the Bulldogs would hit back-to-back three-point shots, to take a small lead.
  • With 3:34 remaining in regulation, York would hold a six-point lead, the largest of the second half, before Stephon McGill would score a layup off of an assist by David McFadden with 3:12 remaining.
  • Then, a crucial steal by Brooklyn's Jaden Casanova led to a flagrant foul being called on York's Jerome Tafari, which would allow Casanova to sink two free throws to inch closer.
  • With 1:48 to go in the game, Serge Thraysbule would come up huge on both sides of the floor, stopping York from scoring and being awarded with the game-tying layup in the process.
  • Brooklyn would take a timeout with 0:42 left to play, and despite a three-point miss by McFadden, Thraysbule would once again make a huge play with an offensive rebound. His layup would miss as well, but this time McGill would secure the offensive rebound that would lead to their final timeout.
  • With 0:22 left to play and the crowd completely invested, the Bulldogs would once again attempt to attack the paint. McGill would miss a driving layup from the right side, and when it all seemed to point to overtime, Casanova would leap for the offensive rebound from the left side of the basket to make what would be the game-winning layup.
