Hunter Spoils Brooklyn's Regular Season Finale

BROOKLYN, New York ----- Coming into Tuesday night's conference game, the Brooklyn College men's volleyball team looked to build momentum into the CUNYAC Playoffs. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs would be spoiled at home against the Hunter College Hawks (15-25, 13-25, 15-25) to end the regular season and remain winless against them historically. The Brooklyn College Bulldogs end the regular season with an even 7-7 conference record and a 12-15 overall record while the Hunter College Hawks end the regular season with a 12-2 conference record and a 15-10 overall record.

The first set had a promising beginning, as Brooklyn would take an early 3-1 lead, which included an ace from Aziz Abdusamiev. However, Hunter would rally back in a set that featured four tied scores, eventually taking a 7-6 lead and never looking back. Although an ace from Brooklyn's David Lema would bring them closer, it would be as close as they get, eventually losing 25-15.

Even though the Hawks ended the first set on a 5-0 run, the second set once again looked promising for the Bulldogs with an early 2-0 lead. The Hawks would once again go on another run to go up 6-2. Aaron Siu, who ended the game with 6 digs, 2 receptions, and 4 kills, would be huge off the bench in this set. It would not be enough, as the Hawks would maintain the lead for the rest of the set that would end 25-13.

The final set, started with Hunter going on a quick 5-0 run, a run that would drive the story of this set. Tommy Min had his moments in this set, finishing with 2 kills, 1 service ace, 3 digs, and 1 reception. His performance would be overshadowed by the fact that most of Brooklyn's points were off errors from Hunter, losing the final set 25-15.

David Lema would lead the Bulldogs with 12 assists, a category he led all season, while adding in 4 digs as a setter. Ali Zandani would be tied with Aaron Siu attaining 6 digs to lead that category. Armand Kaloshi would get 2 more kills in the game, Aziz Abdusamiev and Jaden McBryde would have the only two Bulldogs blocks.

The Brooklyn College men's volleyball team awaits their seeding to determine their next opponent, which will be announced sometime this week.
