Flushing, NY----For the first time since 2007, the Brooklyn College men's tennis team is heading to the CUNYAC Championship after the No. 2 Bulldogs defeated No. 3 Hunter in the conference championship tournament semifinals at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Sunday. BC improves to 11-6 overall with the win while the Hawks close out their season with a 4-6 mark. Next Up: Brooklyn will take on top-seed and reigning CUNYAC champion, Baruch College, in the conference title match on Thursday, May 2, at the USTA National Tennis Center at 3pm.
The No. 1 doubles pair of
Ryan Sham and
Craig Pazarecki gave BC their first win of the afternoon, 8-2.
Mordecai Lev and
Allen Mardakhayev followed with an 8-3 win at No. 3 flight singles.
Aymen Kuc and
Ryan Badre-Hume completed the sweep of doubles with an 8-3 victory.
Lev went on to score a straight-set shutout at No. 6 flight singles, giving Brooklyn a 4-0 advantage, needing just one more singles victory to end the team match.
Mujibur Shaad clinched the victory with a straight-set shutout at the No. 5 slot.
