BROOKLYN, NY----In a collective effort, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 (25-19, 20, 25-23) non-conference sweep of FDU-Florham their first home win at the West Quad Center on Tuesday. BC improves to 2-4 overall with the victory while the Devils move to 3-4 with the loss. Next Up: Brooklyn remains home on Thursday to host Purchase College at 7pm at the West Quad Center.
How It Happened
Brooklyn would jump off to an early lead in the first set, but FDU-Florham would manage to catch up and take the lead after a 4-0 run to go up 7-5.
Trailing 19-17, the Bulldogs would turn things around once again going on a long 5-0 run to retake the lead, and dictate the course of the game by taking it 25-19.
This time, Brooklyn would start off behind in the second set, but two runs would help to solidify another set. First, down 6-4 early on, a 6-0 run would help to retake the lead and keep that lead going up 10-6.
Just when the Devils looked to catch up down 16-13, the Bulldogs would go on another run, this time a 5-0 run to extend the lead to 21-13, eventually taking it 25-20.
In the third set, Brooklyn looked like they were going to run away with the game an easygoing fashion, taking a commanding 22-12 lead, but no lead is safe as Brooklyn would be outscored 11-2, thanks to a 4-0 and 7-0 run, inching FDU-Florham to only be down 24-23.
As the Devils were coming back, the crowd would hold their breath in disbelief at the possibility of blowing the lead and having to go through another grueling set. Just as the momentum seemed to be moving towards the visitors, there was a huge sigh of relief filled the arena, as the ball hit the net for an attack error that allowed the Bulldogs to breath in their first home victory of the season and their first ever win over the FDU-Florham Devils in four tries.
