Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bulldogs' Comeback Falls Short in Home Opener Against Keystone, 3-2

BROOKLYN, NY ------ Despite controlling possession and out-shooting Keystone College 26-5 for the match, the Brooklyn College women's soccer team fell to the Giants, 3-2, in their Home Opener at BC Field on Wednesday. Brooklyn moves 0-3-1 with the non-conference loss while Keystone picked up their first win of the season, improving to 1-2.  Next Up: The Bulldogs head back out on the road for another non-conference match on Tuesday at Bard with a 6pm kickoff.

The scoring would start very early on as the visitor's struck first thanks to a cross from the left side by Brooke Freni that was perfectly struck in by Livia Hable to take a 1-0 lead in 4'.

Brooklyn would quickly respond back less than half a minute later as Sage Bernstein would take a quick shot that was stopped by Keystone's goalie, but would just as quickly kick a through ball to Audrey Jane Young to tie the game 1-1 in 5'. She would end the day with 6 shots, 4 shots on goal, and 1 goal.

Keystone would retake the lead as Mia Brayboy's intentional cross would ricochet off a Brooklyn defender, allowing Abigail Bateman to put it away to make it 2-1 in 19'.

The Bulldogs had plenty of opportunities to put the ball away, and would have a stretch where they would absolutely dominate ball possession and creating 11 of their 17 second half shot opportunities in that span.

Keystone's goalie would save five shots faced, including one by Jaymi Quintuna down the middle that was saved for a corner. That corner would open up another shot, this time to the bottom right once again, building momentum and hope that the tying goal was imminent in 69'.

Despite that pressure, what seemed to be a harmless throw in from the Giants' Kenna Bihlmier would lead to a series of unfortunate bounces that would find the feet of a dribbling Sarah Koster that would put it away to make it 3-1 in 80'.

Brooklyn would attempt to respond back, as Gianna DiPronio would finally find the back of the net after numerous chances in 86'. This gave Sage Bernstein her second assist of the night to end the day with 1 shot on goal, 2 shots, and 2 assists. This also gave DiPronio 5 shots for the night, 1 shot on goal and 1 goal.

The Bulldogs held onto hope but the woodwork would deny them for the third time in this game, a summary of how the match went. Despite their incredible effort, they were not able to come away with a victory, as the Bulldogs would lose 3-2 against the Giants.
