BC Men's Soccer Defeated In Match With William Paterson

Bulldogs Could Not Pioneer A Goal

WAYNE, New Jersey ------ Coming into Saturday evening's match, the Brooklyn College men's soccer team looked to stray away from their losing streak on the road, both for the season and against their opponent, the William Paterson Pioneers. However, from the opening whistle, the Bulldogs were conquered, defeated by a score of 8-0 on the road.

The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (1-5-0) have now lost five matches in a row since opening the season with a victory on the road against Maritime College. Meanwhile, the William Paterson University Pioneers (4-0-2) win their second in a row and continue to stay undefeated.

Before both teams were able to get used to the field, the Pioneers would create a quick play between three players, giving the Pioneers an early 1-0 lead before 1' mark. Three players combining on scoring plays was a theme that developed throughout the first half, leading to an early second goal in 8'.

George Koufos would get Brooklyn's first shot off as they attempted to get back in the game but to no avail in 16.'

Hady Bakry would face yet another shot from the Pioneers, but this time, he was able to dive to the bottom left and save it, his first save of the gamein 17.'

William Paterson's Diego Navas would get a hat trick, three goals scored in a single game, before the halfway point of the first half to make it 3-0 after yet another exist by Enzo Diaz in 23'.

Omar Abdullah would have Brooklyn's best chance in the first half at a goal down the bottom center, but Ryu McKinney was able to stop the shot to prevent Brooklyn from getting on the board.

After four offsides, to make it nine total for the first half, the Pioneers would find the back of the net again right before the first half to make it 4-0 in 44'.

With the first half behind them and down, the Bulldogs searched to get on the board. However, it was the Pioneers who would find the net two more times, first in 54' and then again in 61'.

Brooklyn would get their first real chance in the second half as Bradlej Cupi would attempt another shot down the bottom center that was saved in 72'.

Despite the Pioneers scoring their seventh goal of the night, the Bulldogs continued to fight, as newcomer Emir Imamadiev would attempt another low shot down the center in 80'.

Even with the score at 8-0 in 82', Brooklyn's Hady Bakry would continue to face shots. In 84', he would save a shot down the bottom center, his 11th save of the night and ninth in the second half alone.

A late shot to the top of the woodwork in 88' would be Bakry's thirty-seventh shot faced in the game, 20 of which were on target.

The Bulldogs will continue their roadtrip a little bit closer to home as they travel to Randall's Island Field #10 to face the Pratt Institute Cannoneers on Friday, September 20 at 6:30pm.
