Purchase, NY----Wrapping up their three-match road swing to start the 2024 Season, the Brooklyn College women's soccer team dropped a tough 2-0 decision at Purchase College on Friday. BC moves to 0-2-1 with the loss while the Panthers earned their first victory of the year, improving to 1-3. Next Up: Brooklyn hosts their Home Opener on Wednesday, September 11, against Keystone College at Brooklyn College Field at 4pm.
How It Happened
- A scoreless chess match through the first half, the home team's Lendita Selmani scored the game-winner in 56'.
- Brooklyn freshman midfielder, Zasu Alavarez, had shot opportunity for the equalizer, but was saved by the Purchase keeper in 75'. Freshman midfielder, Audrey Jane Young, also had a shot saved in 84' that would have tied the match. PC added their insurance goal in 86'.
- PC out-shot Brooklyn 18-8 for the match.
For the Bulldogs
- Alvarez finished with a pair of shots including the one on-goal.
- Young also finished with two shots including one on-frame.
- Freshman keeper, April Hartje, had five saves in all 90 minutes of action in goal.
