Despite Strong Start, Bulldogs Fall at Hunter

NEW YORK, New York ------ Coming into Wednesday evening's conference matchup, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team looked to bounce back in conference play. However, the Bulldogs weren't able to find a rhythm at Hunter in CUNYAC play, falling to the Hawks, 72-59.

The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (6-9, 2-2 CUNYAC) dropped consecutive conference games on the road while the Hunter College Hawks (9-4, 4-0 CUNYAC) remain undefeated in conference play.

How It Happened

Brooklyn would start the game off on the right foot, taking a commanding 22-9 lead after the first quarter that ended on a 6-0 run.

After the Bulldogs continued to hold a lead, the Hawks would rally back in the second quarter by outscoring them on a 10-0 run for the fist lead of the game at 29-28 with 5:15 remaining in the fist half.

Hunter would go into halftime with a narrow 42-39 lead after scoring five points in a row before Brooklyn would cut into it right before the half with a jumper by Dior Dorsey.

With the Bulldogs attempting to cut into the lead, the Hawks would go on a 10-0 run to go up 59-43 with less than a minute remaining in the third quarter, eventually carrying a 60-45 lead into the final quarter of play.

Brooklyn would find themselves in a twenty-point deficit, but a 9-0 run would cut the lead back to 70-59 with 1:04 remaining, leaving very little time for a late comeback.

For the Bulldogs

  • Dior Dorsey would have a near double-double while leading in practically every single category with 28 points and 9 rebounds, to go with 5 assists, 1 block, and 6 steals.
  • Anna Kitch would be the only other player in double figures with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 3steals.

Up next, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team comes back home to continue conference play against the York College Cardinals on Friday, January 17th at 5:00pm.
