BC Men's Basketball Defeats York For Second Conference Game In A Row

Bulldogs Building Momentum at the Right Time

BROOKLYN, New York ------ Coming into Friday night's conference match, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team looked to build off of their first conference victory just two days before on the road. This time, they would find themselves at home for a game with the York College Cardinals, a team that has given Brooklyn a run for their money. Fortunately, the Bulldogs were able to defend home court in convincing fashion, defeating the Cardinals by a score of 80-59.

The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (6-9, 2-3 CUNYAC) continue to build momentum at just the right time, as they become healthier as the season goes by, while the York College Cardinals (2-12, 0-5 CUNYAC) continue to fight for their first conference victory.

How It Happened

Brooklyn and York would keep it close for the first shots of the game, the only tied score of the game before Brooklyn would go on a 15-3 run to take an 18-6 lead with 12:50 to go in the first half. Brooklyn would go up by as many as fifteen points before taking a seven-point lead into the first half at 35-28.

The Bulldogs would continue to build off their lead, before a deep three would cut the Cardinals' deficit to eleven. With the score of 50-39 with 13:37 to go in the game, the Bulldogs would go on an extensive 14-0 run, the largest lead of the game at 64-39.

For the rest of the game, Brooklyn would hold onto their lead and never look back, taking home an 80-59 lead.

For the Bulldogs

  • Malik Dale led the way in scoring with 24 points with 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals while shooting an efficient 9-for-17 overall and 4-for-8 from deep.
  • David McFadden led the way in three categories with 9 rebounds, 9 assists and 1 block, while being in double digits with 15 points and 1 steal, shooting an efficient 5-for-10 overall and 4-for-9 from three.
  • Jaden Casanova would come off the bench to be the third Bulldog in double digits with 10 points and 5 rebounds, shooting an efficient 4-for-7 from the field.
