BC Men's Basketball Escapes Medgar Evers

Bulldogs Run Away With Brooklyn Battle Against Cougars

BROOKLYN, New York ------ Coming into Wednesday night's conference matchup, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team looked to continue to expand their three-game winning streak against the Medgar Evers College Cougars Despite the late attempt by the Cougars, the Bulldogs survived to win 73-70.

The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (8-9, 3-3 CUNYAC) even their conference record and are one victory away from evening their overall record. Meanwhile, the Medgar Evers College Cougars (3-14, 1-5 CUNYAC) continue to struggle in the conference.

How It Happened

Though Medgar Evers would tie it twice in the first half, Brooklyn would have control for the most part during the game, expanding their lead with a 7-0 run to go up 25-13 with 6:59 to go.

The Cougars would go on a 9-0 run off their own to bring it within three, but not before the Bulldogs would end it with a 5-0 run to take a 33-26 lead into the half.

Brooklyn would go on a couple more 5-0 runs to create some distance, eventually taking a substantial twelve-point lead with 2:55 to go. However, Medgar Evers would not go away, as they would go on a 11-0 run to make it 71-70 with 0:46 remaining in the game.

The Bulldogs would tack on two more points at the free throw line, and would manage to get one last stop on a three-point shot to seal the win 73-70.

For the Bulldogs

  • Joe Charles led the way with 18 points, 1 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals on 7-for-11 shooting, including 4-for-7 from three.
  • Serge Thrasybule scored 11 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal, going 4-for-8 overall
  • David McFadden had a near double-double with 10 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal on 4-for-8 shooting.
  • Brendan Armour came off the bench and led on defense with 3 steals, contributing 10 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block as well.
