Bulldogs' Five-Game Win Streak Snapped at Baruch, 67-62

New York, NY-----Despite building a 22-point lead early in the second half, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team wasn't able to hold off a late extended run at Baruch on Tuesday, falling to the Bearcats, 67-62, in conference play.  Brooklyn moves to 9-10 overall (4-4 CUNYAC) in defeat while the Bearcats improved to 10-9 (7-1 CUNYAC).  Tuesday's loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Bulldogs.  Next Up: Brooklyn will look to bounce back at home on Friday against Lehman in CUNYAC play at 7:15 pm. 
 
How It Happened
  • Heading into halftime with a 34-26 advantage, the Bulldogs opened the second on a 12-0 run for a 46-26 lead following a Malik Dale layup with 16:40 left in regulation.  Brooklyn extended their lead to 50-28 less than two minutes later after a Joe Charles made jumper. 
  • Baruch began knocking on the door with a 6-0 run, cutting Brooklyn's lead to 13 points with just under 11 points left in the second half.  With the Bulldogs still leading, 62-51, with 3:40 left in the second half, the home team would close out the game on a 16-0 run for the final score. 
  • Trailing by as many as 9 points in the first six minutes of play, the Bulldogs battled back and after a 16-0 run capped by a Joe Charles three-point make, Brooklyn grabbed a 24-16 lead with just under seven minutes remaining in the first half.  Brooklyn would go on to lead by as many as 10 points in the first half.  Brendan Armour was instrumental in the first half for Brooklyn, pacing the Bulldogs with 12 points. 
  • Baruch shot 11-19 from the free throw line to the Bulldogs' 3-14 on the evening. 
 
For the Bulldogs
  • Armour led all scorers with 18 points on 9-10 shooting from the field.  He also grabbed 7 rebounds before fouling out. 
  • Charles chipped in 12 points while shooting 2-3 from behind the arc. 
  • David McFadden added 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.
