Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Bulldogs Bested at Baruch, 66-63

New York, NY-----Playing for sole possession of second place in the conference standings, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team dropped a 66-63 decision at Baruch on Tuesday.  The Bulldogs move to 9-10 overall (5-3 CUNYAC) while the Bearcats improve 9-9 (6-2 CUNYAC).  With tonight's results, the teams split their regular season series.  Next Up: The Bulldogs have another key conference game on Friday at home as they host Lehman on Friday.

How It Happened
  • With the Bulldogs trailing 60-55 with 3:14 to go in regulation, Brooklyn freshman guard, Ameea Daniel, drained a three to cut the Baruch lead to two with 3:03 remaining.  However, it is as close as the Bulldogs would get for the rest of the contest as the Bearcats were able to get valuable stops and knock down free-throws in the final two minutes of the game.
  • The Bulldogs grabbed their last lead of the contest, 38-36, with 5:18 left in the third quarter following an Alina Estrella bucket.
  • Brooklyn jumped out to a 7-2 lead to start the game following an Anna Kitch three-point make.  Baruch would end up winning the first quarter, 17-14, following a three-point make of their own.
  • The Bearcats shot 12-20 from the free-throw line to the Bulldogs' 2-7 for the game.  Baruch shot over 54% from the field in the fourth quarter to Brooklyn's 30%.  The Bulldogs did outscore Baruch 22-12 in points off of turnovers.
  • Baruch's Mia Castillo led all scorers with 27 points.  She also grabbed 8 rebounds.
For the Bulldogs
  • Estrella led Brooklyn in scoring with 18 points.  She also grabbed 4 rebounds.
  • Kitch added 16 points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season.
  • Daniel scored 11 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and came up with 3 steals off of the bench.
