Brooklyn Rolls to Conference Win Over Lehman at Home

Brooklyn, NY-----Avenging a conference loss earlier in the month on the road, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team cruised to a  67-46 victory over Lehman College at the West Quad Center on Friday.  Brooklyn improves to 10-10 overall (6-3 CUNYAC) with the win while the Lightning drops to 9-11 (5-4 CUNYAC) respectively.  Next Up: Brooklyn looks to keep their momentum going at home on Tuesday against conference-leading Hunter for another high-stakes conference tilt.

How It Happened
  • A scoreless contest for the first three minutes of play, BC junior guard, Dior Dorsey, broke the stalemate at the 6:55 mark with a made jumper that led to a 9-0 Brooklyn run to start the game.  Brooklyn kept the defensive pressure on in the second quarter and following an Anna Kitch layup make off of a steal, the Bulldogs would grab a 38-13 advantage for the halftime score.  BC outscored Lehman, 16-2, in points off of turnovers in the first half.
  • Brooklyn would go on to lead by as many as 32 points in the third quarter before Lehman went on a 13-2 run to cut the Bulldogs' lead to as few as 21 points.  However, Brooklyn put an end to any complete Lehman comeback to start the fourth quarter beginning with a three drained by Aleah Rafat and followed by a Kitch three-point make.
  • The Bulldogs made five threes for the game while limiting Lehman to just one.

For the Bulldogs
  • Freshman guard, Ameea Daniel, paced BC with 16 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, and came up with 6 steals.
  • Kitch added another double-double on the season, finishing with 12 points, 14 rebounds while coming up with 4 steals.
  • Senior guard, Alina Estrella, also reached double-figures in scoring, finishing with 12 points.  She also dished out 3 assists and came up with 3 steals.
  • Rafat finished with 9 points on 4-5 shooting from the field.  She also grabbed 5 boards.
