Bulldogs Hand Hunter First CUNYAC Loss of Season

Brooklyn, NY-----Handing Hunter College their first conference loss of the season, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team cruised to a 68-47 win over the Hawks on Tuesday at the West Quad Center.  BC moves to 11-10 (7-3 CUNYAC) with the win while the Hawks drop to 15-5 (9-1 CUNYAC).  Next Up: Brooklyn will look to keep their momentum going at John Jay at Saturday at 1pm. 

How It Happened
  • Leading by 16 points at halftime, the Bulldogs opened up the second half on 7-1 run capped by a three-pointer buried by Ameea Daniel.  Daniel would hit another big three in the third quarter, helping BC extend their lead to 50-27 with 2:54 left in the period. Despite a couple of Hawk spurts in the fourth quarter, Brooklyn would go on to lead by as many as 24 points in the second half. 
  • Trailing 5-0 to start the contest, Brooklyn used a 5-0 run to take their first lead of the game, 8-7, with a little under five minutes left in the first quarter.  The Bulldogs closed out the quarter with a 16-14 lead following a made jumper drained by Brianna Gutierrez
  • The Bulldogs outscored Hunter 21-7 in the second quarter.  Back-to-back Mary Dolgin makes from behind the arc ignited a 13-4 BC run.  Brooklyn grabbed a 37-21 halftime lead following a pair of Anna Kitch free-throws.  The Bulldogs outrebounded Hunter 17-4 on the offensive glass in the first half.  Kitch paced BC with 11 first half points. 
  • BC outscored Hunter 24-3 in second chance points and 25-6 off of turnovers for the game.
 
For the Bulldogs
  • Daniel paced all scorers with a game-high 19 points and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds. 
  •  Dolgin finished with 15 points and 9 rebounds off of the bench. 
  • Kitch finished with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
